Mission Statement
AGORA is a popular scientific magazine for social-spatial matters. Every issue is composed of one or two themes. Based on these themes the connection between social and physical processes will be addressed from the social-spatial scientific perspective. The editorial staff consists of, amongst others, town-planners, (social) geographers and (urban) sociologists. Our common goal is to combine high standard quality and a critical view with accessible articles in order to address and inform a diverse group of students, researchers, policy makers, commercially and otherwise interested parties. AGORA aims, first of all, to discuss and publish on topics, which are perceived underexposed and, secondly, to formulate our own vision on current themes and place it within a broader framework. AGORA is not specifically policy-oriented, but definitely policy-related and relevant.
Background
AGORA is published by the Stichting Tijdschrift AGORA (AGORA Magazine Foundation). The board of editors consists of approximately 25 members, predominantly researchers and students in the realms of Planning, Human Geography and Sociology at different universities in the Netherlands and Belgium as well as professionals from the field of social-spatial and strategic development.
Reading Public
The magazine appears five times a year in a volume of approximately 1,500 copies. AGORA appeals to a wide reading public, such as policymakers, researchers, professors, students and other interested individuals. Since a few years, all first-year students of geography and planning at the University of Amsterdam, Utrecht University, University of Groningen and the Leuven University (Belgium) receive a copy provided by their institute.
